THINK BIG FRANKSTON………. THINK DOWN’S ESTATE!

DOWNS ESTATE COMMUNITY PROJECT (DECP) is an exciting project with great opportunities to strengthen our Frankston/Seaford community.
WHERE IS IT LOCATED ? Down’s Estate is 50 acres along Old Wells Road in Seaford, across the road from the Motorbike Club. It was last used as a farm by Harry Down, and now DECP is applying for a licence from Council to use this iconic site beside the Seaford Wetlands for the community’s benefit. THE STORY SO FAR... Years of dedicated work by a passionate group of locals, have managed to save the old Farmhouse, and the big Shed from being demolished. That group, joined by some new blood, are now incorporated and working to initiate this project as soon as possible. This follows intensive consultation with Council, discussions with Councillors and gathering support from respected community groups and organisations. WHAT IS PLANNED ? Picnic tables and seats, walking trails, revegetation programs, planting food gardens, an orchard, environmental education and training, all built with a base of community skill sharing. We will tell the stories of this site with the Indigenous connections to the land and its stewardship and also the white settler and ecological history of the area, to enrich our community identity now and into the future. Community interests will guide other activities such as Music, Arts and Crafts and community events. We aim to have something for everyone. YOU CAN VOTE …..TO HELP THIS NEW PROJECT GET THE SUPPORT IT NEEDS The Frankston/Seaford environment is our greatest asset by far. We will continue to work with community members, groups, organizations, schools, businesses in collaboration with our partners at Frankston Council, to bring the DOWNS ESTATE COMMUNITY PROJECT alive. With strong themes of building community resilience, care for environment and creating food security and sustainable living options - our kids, their families, youth, older residents and visitors will have a special place to relax, learn, play and connect. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST AND WE HOPE – YOUR VOTES. Find out more on our Facebook page or Seaford Community Committee website and join us on this adventure.
